I would like to know if my power supply will handle a geforce 8800 gtx?
I currently have the Thermal take tr2- 470 watt power supply. I know that the minimum watts needed for this card is 450, will my power supply handle this card? Thanks
On the box it says that the +12v1 max load is 14 amps, I don't think this is enough, am I correct?
If you know of any good power supplies that you would recommend for just one of these cards please let me know.
A lot depends on what else is inside your box. It sounds like your current power supply is kind of underpowered for the big video cards. When you overload a supply, the voltages drop, and all sorts of things can happen including some that can damage your computer. There is no penalty (besides cost) for over configuring, so I would recommend 600-800 watts to be on the safe side.
