terrarium help?!?
i have an exoterra 12x12 terrarium and currently have a small frog that is doing fine in it. the light source is not intense and comes from an exoterra "glow light". well, my wuestion is how do i make the habitat look more natural with plantings and stuff, and what plants, soil, and maintenance is required? and lastly how do u clean it?
there is also the foam faux rock back in it too...
It doesn't matter what plants you use, just go out and buy some live plants. My frogs tend to like the tall, bushy ones. I use a special substrate for my animals. I don't know the name of it, but it's the kind you put in water to make it expand. Also, you should use some woodchips. To maintain your terrarium soil and plants, you just need to spray them with water every so often. To clean your tank, wet a paper towel with distilled water and wipe down the glass areas of the terrarium. Then, take another wet paper towel and clean the poo off from everything. You should do this about once a week. Once a month, when the soil gets very wet, change it. About every three to five months, you need to deep clean your tank. Take the animals out and put them in another tank and completely clean out the tank with a diluted bleach solution. Make sure you completely rinse that solution out, so your frog doesn't soak it in and die.
