go to ebay and buy a Garcia Mitchell 300 or 400 - look it over and make sure it looks good and the seller has a good rating.
when you get it go to Walmart or basspro (basspro.com) and buy a 6ft or 6.5 foot ugly stick
next I'd go with fireline about 20 lb test (it's only as thick as 8lb mono line)

with this combination you will have a reel that is tried and true - I have been buying Garcia Mitchell reels for decades - the older ones are the best. I often give used reels as gifts - anyone that knows spinning reels knows older Garcia Mitchell reels (1950's to 1978 or so) are the best
